Stay In Touch
Furniture built the way a sentence is built — joint by joint.
N&C is a small studio making solid-wood furniture where every connection is visible on purpose. No dowels hidden under veneer, no glue standing in for craft — just the joint, doing its job in the open.
The ampersand is the whole idea.
Two makers, one bench. Nadia cuts the joints; Callum finishes the surfaces. The "&" between our initials is the actual seam where the work happens — so we designed it like one.
Through-tenon
The joint used across our seating frames — cut proud so you can see, and eventually re-tighten, the connection.
Dovetail carcass
Every drawer and case piece is dovetailed by hand. It's slower. It's also the reason a hundred-year-old chest still closes true.
Wedged mortise
Table legs that tighten with age instead of working loose — the wedge is a feature, not a repair.
Nine pieces. No filler.
We don't chase a full catalogue. Each piece stays until we've found a joint or a proportion worth adding — which is why there are only three shown here.

We mill our own stock, air-dry it for a season, then cut every joint by hand before it's finished with hard wax oil. Nothing is outsourced to save a week.
Sourcing & milling
Rough sawn boards, chosen at the yard for grain, not yield.
Cutting & fitting
Joints are cut, dry-fitted, and adjusted by hand before glue ever touches the wood.
Finishing
Hard wax oil, worked in by hand across three coats, left to cure a full week.
